To check the automatic transmission fluid level in a Lincoln Navigator, start the engine and allow it to warm up to normal operating temperature. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually near the back of the engine compartment. Carefully remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.
